Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconbegins with the player character’s arrival on Rubicon, where they must scavenge a usable Mercenary License to operate safely on the planet. This makes up the bulk of the game’s first mission.

Towards the end of the first mission inArmored Core 6, players will have to deal with AH12: HC Helicopter, a powerful attack chopper that can prove rather difficult to handle. Since players aren’t able to make any adjustments to their AC until this first mission is completed, players will be using a default loadout with a machine gun, missile pods, and laser blade.

Attacks

The Helicopter attacks using a combination of gatling guns and missiles. It will frequently fire AP rounds from the gatling guns on either, or both, sides of it. This attack can be best avoided by either moving behind buildings to take cover or by getting underneath the helicopter. Where possible, getting under the helicopter is preferable since it allows the player to counterattack.

The missile pods hanging under the helicopter fire clusters of four missiles per attack, which can be dodged by quick boosting to the left or right. Jumping and boosting into the air can also avoid these missiles. Taking cover behind buildings is also a useful tactic for dealing with these. Ideally, players should go airborne to avoid this attack as it has a large blast radius that can sometimes catch their AC even when quick boosting to the sides.

The helicopter can also fire a high volume of smaller missiles, which can be easily dodged by utilizing the quick boost to move left or right as they get close. Unlike the heavier missiles used in the previous attack, these smaller missiles have strong homing capabilities, so players will need to time their dodge carefully to evade the attack.

Strategy

As the helicopter enters the area, players should use the assault boost to charge toward it and perform a combo with the laser blade. This will inflict a ton of ACS strain and help to stagger it. After landing the combo, players should back off a littleand pelt it with missiles and gunfirewhile evading its attacks, waiting for the laser blade to recharge. Players should stick close to the helicopter where possible since it can’t attack directly below it with most of its weapons, and this puts players in a great position to assault boost and blade combo it from below. Inflicting enough ACS strain will stagger the Helicopter, allowing players to deal tons of extra damage to it while it recovers.

Keeping up this pattern and playing aggressively will allow players to take out AH12: HC Helicopter without too much trouble.
