Marvel’s Avengersfans are desperate for new content, and while War for Wakanda is coming soon, the future remains unclear. Behindthe Spider-Man DLC, gamers have no idea of what will be coming to the live service game. While more heroes have leaked, and more villain sectors and events would make sense, nothing has been confirmed by Crystal Dynamics thus far. However, one great surprise would see a seasonal event introduced to the game.
Thus far, the events inMarvel’s Avengershave been themed around Black Widow and Tachyon Anomalies. However, a holiday event has potential, as making content for real world occasions has worked out well for other games. Whether it beOverwatchorAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, gamers seem to love logging into their favorite games to celebrate the holiday season. As such,Marvel’s Avengersshould capitalize on this, and there is no better option for a seasonal event than Halloween.

Why A Seasonal Event Would Help Marvel’s Avengers
While there are manyways to fixMarvel’s Avengers, such as proper endgame content and more enemy variety, one solution is some diversity in the game’s content. For example, the reason that the upcoming Patrol mode is so exciting is that it offers a fresh way to play. A seasonal event could bring that same excitement, with an entirely new game mode for players to enjoy. Much likeOverwatchcustomizes its multiplayer maps for the holidays, the game’s regions could get Halloween or Christmas makeovers, making them feel more special for a few weeks.
As always, cosmetics are important, as many gamers have been thrilled aboutMarvel’s Avengers’MCUskins. Seasonal events could bring this, with Santa hats for each of The Avengers or some pink costumes for Valentine’s Day. Limited time skins could get players’ interest, and making them unlockable through the event’s exclusive content could push people to spend more time with the game. Similar to other events like the Red Room, players could have challenges to complete as they play through the new levels. Alongside gear items for completing a set, cosmetics could be rewarded.

It is possible to theme season events around certain heroes, too. The 4th of July is a perfect example of this, as it could be based completely around Captain America. WithSpider-Man’s Cap-inspired suitcatching the eye of Marvel fans, making them for the entirety of the hero roster could lead to an awesome set of cosmetics. Seeing a version of Black Panther in Captain America colors would look great, and it could only be the tip of the iceberg. With a St. Patrick’s Day event that sees everyone getting green skin like Hulk being another example, there is a lot that can be done with the concept.
If Crystal Dynamics were to fully embrace seasonal events, it could allow for several extra content drops each year. Even if they arelimited to colorful HARM Roomsand cosmetics, these events would see new things coming to the game every few months. With regular DLC releases coming alongside these events, the game could feel more alive, giving fans more opportunities to check back in. If Crystal Dynamics wants to experiment with the idea, there is no better option than incorporating Marvel Zombies for Halloween.

What A Marvel Zombies Event Could Add To Marvel’s Avengers
Marvel Zombies turned out to be an awesome event in the comics, as the off-the-wall concept provided a darker narrative for the heroes. With a vast majority of the Marvel roster zombified, the few surviving heroes had to fight against the undead on their own. This same dark plot could be adapted in a new Operation for the game. While the story would need to wrap up with all the heroes surviving, and any infected characters being turned back, it would be a fun change of pace for the game. With the comic run setting up a completely infected world, the event could even kickstart a properexpansion like War for Wakanda.
A Marvel Zombies Operation could feature brand-new enemies via the zomboes, with crowd control being key. Dropping the undead asone of the Hawkeyescould feel incredible, with Black Widow’s guns or Cap’s shield being just as satisfying. To keep things fresh, zombified heroes could serve as the bosses. This could allow Crystal Dynamics to make use of characters they are not planning to make playable, with The Avengers taking on undead X-Men or Inhumans. Seeing their unique powers used could make for a lot of memorable fights, while having a good mix of zombie heroes and undead humans would ensure that the gameplay stays varied.
Outside of a story Operation, HARM rooms could be added that give players more time against the undead. Likethe Red Room Takeover, special hazards could be added, with one seeing players infected if they take too much damage. This could give them a time limit to clear the area, with cure vials dropped to add to the timer. If the player does not cure themselves in time, their hero could be zombified, forcing their teammates to kill them. They could then be forced to spectate for the rest of the mission, making ensuring that these HARM rooms are difficult.
Outside of some interesting new gameplay that would keep players on the edge of their seats, a Marvel Zombies event has the opportunity to present some must-have cosmetics. Pulled straight from the comics, these costumes would see each hero’s outfit ripped and bloody. They would also be fully zombfied, with different skin, eyes, and facial features. WiththeMCU’sWhat If?seriesset to introduce zombie Captain America to a larger audience, expanding on that via the game makes sense. From Iron Man to Hulk, seeing the cast zombified would be extremely cool — and a perfect way to celebrate Halloween.
When looking at all the potential positives, a Marvel Zombies event really should be a no-brainer. The trend ofzombies in video gamesexists for a reason, as they are one of the most satisfying enemies to fight against. While there would be issues to work around like blood and gore, it would be worth the effort. Electrocuting a large horde of undead foes sounds like a blast, and dressing up the Son of Odin like a zombie would only add to the fun. With potential for a dark story that is still fun to play, as well as an exciting HARM Room mechanic, a zombie-focused Halloween event would be a great way forMarvel’s Avengersto close out 2021.
